Only Human

Here are two separate approaches to representing the figure. The nude and clothed human beings were studio models. Their surroundings are imagined and invented. The words came from poems I had written, which somehow seemed to express the pose and mood of my own drawings.

The wooden artist’s-anatomy doll has been depicted as part of a pinocchio story. She awakens one day on a shelf and proceeds to find a place in the world.
